Viva La Equilibrium! Chan's Staying!
The AJC breaks the news . . . Chan Gailey will remain the Head Coach at Georgia Tech, for now. On an even brighter note, Tech will be losing offensive coordinator Patrick Nix to Miami. No, not the Dolphins, the Hurricanes.
This is doubly good news, in that Georgia Tech will retain the crotchety fella who couldn't beat Mark Richt with a 2x4 and a sock full of quarters, while losing one of their two best recruiters, and the guy who was responsible for (moderately) opening up the offense leading to (halting) success in the passing game. If only Gif Smith had gotten the Georgia Southern job, I would have been doing the running man down the hallway.
Paul makes the salient point that Nix wasn't exactly the Evil Genius when it comes to offensive schemes. He's not even Kirk Koetter, to be frank. But he had potential, and there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing every glimmer of hope for the future on North Avenue extinguished by a flood of pure liquid mediocrity.
